Workshop|What to do if you encounter a lion – Fanzicuo Lion Head Modeling Workshop
The area around Fengnianli, Beitou District, was formerly known as “Fanzaicuo”. “Fanzai lion” is a lion dance worthy of understanding in the temple lion dance culture in Beitou area. The workshop invited Master A Bao, who made the lion dance head of Baode Palace, and the artist who has long been assisting in the video recording of Baode Palace lion array. Artist Liang Tingyu uses lion head molding to explore the history of the encounter between aborigines and lion dance culture.

The lion array at Baode Palace in Beitou is very unique. In addition to the steps of the dance array, it also features lion head shapes. The master who made the lion heads, Lin Yuanbao, is known as “Master A Bao”. He is 73 years old and has made lion heads for more than 40 years. This year, the walls of my home are full of lion head works, and I want to inherit the skill and culture of making lion heads. These two workshops will take the audience to experience the complete process of making lion heads.
Leader Artist Liang Tingyu
Liang Tingyu, an artist who has been staying at Baode Palace for many years, graduated from the Interdisciplinary Art Institute of Beijing University of Arts. The creation mainly combines local investigation and research, focusing on planned artistic actions, composite media, and document installations. It focuses on issues such as historical archives and ethnic relations. Recently, it has extended the discussion on archives and local anecdotes, and used dynamic The current art project is carried out through the collection, mapping and writing of images and local ghost stories.
