Series of discussions|Recovering the lost story of the Pingpu ethnic group
The Pingpu ethnic group plays a significant role in Taiwan’s history, but it is one of the least mentioned. Fortunately, the past waves of Pingpu movements have led society to begin to see these cultures. In recent years, the stories and culture of the Pingpu ethnic group have been gradually presented to society in the form of exhibitions. Among the past exhibitions at the Ketagalan Cultural Center, the 2017 “We are standing still – the homesickness of the Pingpu people on the Keelung River” and the 2018 “People without Names – Life narratives of the Pingpu youth” exhibitions, from the discovery of Ketagalan People who belong to the Lan ethnic group present their own culture and stories through life writing, images and oral records. This discussion will invite the exhibition’s curatorial team, Du Yizhen and Pu Nianyu, to share their experiences before and after the exhibition. They will also talk about their observations of the current situation of young people in Pingpu, Taiwan, and learn about the new generation’s awareness of self-identity. and contradiction.
