How can we imagine Datun Mountain and Beitou Society?
Teacher Zhihao leads the audience to travel back to time and space where there are traces to follow. Using the relative spatial positions on the map as a reference point, we revisit the possible lives of different ethnic groups in northern Taiwan and speculate on the naming process at that time. Datun Mountain (or Dayun Mountain) is speculated to have originated from the time when the Qing Dynasty began to govern Taiwan, echoing the imagination of the imperial territory at that time being surrounded by mountains. Teacher Zhihao’s lecture provides an opportunity for us to “rethink history.” We look forward to more activities with in-depth content sprouting and growing throughout Taiwan.
